Monanthes polyphylla is a very cute and tiny, slow-growing succulent native to the Canary Islands. It clusters to form dense mats of miniature green compact rosettes. It produces small star-shaped flowers.

Monanthes is a small and little known genus that belongs to the Crassulaceae family. It includes about 14 species endemic to the Canary Islands
 
Caring for your Monanthes 
 
Pot: Most Monanthes are best suited to cultivation in containers or in protected areas of the rockery or succulent garden.
 
Soil: The plants prefer a well-drained, compost rich soil.
 
Light: The brighter the light the more colourful and compact your plant. However the plants should be protected from hot direct sunlight. 
 
Water: Monanthes like frequent watering, only allowing the soil to dry out slightly between watering. However they can survive periods of drought.
