A beautiful gemmy Azurite crystal, seated on a matrix with some Duftite and Malachite present. Nice nice collectors specimen, perfect for the Tsumeb cabinet.

 

Azurite is a secondary Copper mineral that formed in the oxidized zones of Copper deposits. It is an exquisite mineral with its rich blue coloration. Tsumeb is world-renowned for some of the best Azurite crystals ever seen, dark azure-blue and gemmy crystals of exceptional size. Very attractive Azurite pseumorphs into Malachite is also known from here.

 

From the world renowned, multi-ore Tsumeb mine in Namibia. The mine was closed down in 1996, bringing to an end of an era of being one of the best specimen-producing mines in the world. Specimens from this locality are highly collectable and has also produced some of the best specimens. The mine is also known for being one of the richest in mineral species of which many new species has been described from.
