Pietersite - Polished Slice

This exquisite and rare stone is only known from one farm in Namibia.
 
Pietersite is a variety of Chalcedony (Quartz), with embedded fibers of amphibole minerals with varying degrees of alteration. Its colour could range from blue-grey, brown, golden-yellow, black and seldomely with red patches. The fibers cause a chatoyancy, similar to that seen in the well-known Tiger's eye.
 
This is a beautifully polished slice, quite unusual with the Quartz layers on the top and bottom, this piece also has a lot of black in between with flecks of very flashy blue. This slice comes with a stand.
