A good cabinet-sized specimen of this white hexagonal columnar calcite with some black scalenohedron colour zoning from Fujian, China.  It is a two generation growth Calcite where the inner black scalenohedrons formed first, followed by the white hexagonal Calcite that covered the initial black crystals.
 
Besides its unique crystal formations, these Calcite crystal fluoresces and glows a bright pink colour under the UV light. A beautiful specimen, the matrix has been trimmed for display purposes.
