A beautiful polished slice from this Namibian locality. A combination of Shattuckite, Malachite and some minor Cuprite.
Shattuckite is a rare secondary Copper silicate mineral. It was named after the mine where it was first discovered, the Shattuck Mine, Arizona, USA.
The Kunene region, is a desert region in northern Namibia and southern Angola. The area has numerous small Copper deposits associated with Quartz veins within limestones. These smaller deposits has produced some of the best Dioptase and Shattuckite specimens in the world. Several other secondary Copper minrals are also found within these veins.
