A nice glittery specimen of Duftite with minor Calcite crystals on matrix.
Duftite is an arsenate mineral, closely related Conichalcite. This olive-green mineral is often found in association with other species. It was originally found at the Tsumeb Mine (Type Locality).
Calcite is a carbonate mineral and a polymorph of Aragonite. It is extremely variable in colour, ranging from clear, white, yellow, orange, blue, pink, red, brown, green, black and grey.
From the world renowned, multi-ore Tsumeb mine in Namibia. The mine was closed down in 1996, bringing to an end of an era of being one of the best specimen-producing mines in the world. Specimens from this locality are highly collectable and has also produced some of the best specimens. The mine is also known for being one of the richest in mineral species of which many new species has been described from here.
