A lovely thumbnail specimen with a lovely large Dioptase crystal set on a pearly-white Dolomite layer on the host rock. Some Dioptase crystals on the other end too.
Dioptase is a really beautiful bright emerald-green mineral found in oxidized zones of copper deposits. Namibian mines has delivered some of the most exquisite Dioptase specimens. Specimens from the Kaokoveld are usually associated with a Quartz matrix.
From the world renowned, multi-ore Tsumeb mine in Namibia. The mine was closed down in 1996, bringing to an end of an era of being one of the best specimen-producing mines in the world. Specimens from this locality are highly collectable and has also produced some of the best specimens. The mine is also known for being one of the richest in mineral species of which many new species has been described from here.
