A showy large Calcite specimen with scattered yellow Mimetite crystals.
Calcite is a carbonate mineral and a polymorph of Aragonite. It is extremely variable in colour, ranging from clear, white, yellow, orange, blue, pink, red, brown, green, black and grey.
Mimetite is a member of the Apatite group, a secondary mineral found in the oxidized zones of lead deposits, usually forming by the oxidation of Galena and Arsenopyrite.
From the world renowned, multi-ore Tsumeb mine in Namibia. The mine was closed down in 1996, bringing to an end of an era of being one of the best specimen-producing mines in the world. Specimens from this locality are highly collectable and has also produced some of the best specimens. The mine is also known for being one of the richest in mineral species of which many new species has been described from here.
